During the tenure of President Barack Obama, North Dakota enjoyed having the strongest job growth of any state in the U.S.

According to American City Business Journals, the new job-growth rankings holds North Dakota at the top with a 23.9 percent increase in private-sector employment since Obama has taken office.

The overall number was helped by the demand for petroleum workers and other related services following the oil-boom. In fact, it led to a 34 percent increase peak in the private sector between 2009 and 2014. However, that number has since went back down to the 23.9 percent, despite the fact that North Dakota still ranks first in the nation since the president has been in The White House.

Utah and Texas followed North Dakota as second and third on the list, respectively.
