Relocating to North Dakota in 2025? Here Are 3 Tips That Help
North Dakota is a beautiful place filled with great people. It's no wonder that just in the past few months, I've seen so many moving trucks rolling through the area.
Why North Dakota?
Well, for starters, we have the nicest people ever, ahem... "North Dakota Nice" is a thing for a reason. If you're stranded in a ditch, we will get out in the freezing temps and help you out. If you come up a few dollars short at the grocery store, we might just step up and pay the difference for you and only ask in return that yo pay it forward.
Those are a few reasons to choose to move here, but that's not even to mention the job opportunities, beautiful landscape, river activities, and booming business we have here.
If you are thinking about moving to North Dakota anytime soon, there are a couple of things you should keep in mind
First, winter lasts 8 to 9 months. If you love cold and snow activities like sledding, skiing, and snowshoeing, you will love it. That said, remember our winters aren't for the faint of heart. We've dropped down to negative 20, even negative 40, a time or two.
To prepare:
1. Invest in a GOOD winter jacket.
2. Don't kid yourself, you need a snowblower.
3. Don't worry about fashion, worry about WARM. Winter boots are a must. Spend the money on nice ones.
The next thing you should know is that the bars close earlier here. Don't ask me why, because I honestly don't know. If you are used to partying until two in the morning, you need to adjust. Bars close an hour earlier; plan accordingly.
Last thing: You DON'T need a block heater. Everyone who lives here will tell you that you need one, but don't listen. As a matter of fact, once upon a time, our radio station vehicle caught on fire because it was hooked up to a block heater.
Do yourself a favor, just invest in a remote car starter. You don't have to go out in the cold, and your car (probably) is safe from any flames.
Those are just a few pro tips for you if you or someone you know plans on moving out here. Send us a message in the app with your tips.
