There are so many things to love about fall in North Dakota: pumpkin patches, horror movie trivia nights at the bar, corn mazes, etc. That said, there is one thing most of us can agree on that we can't stand.

Spiders.

Yes, there's nothing quite as unpleasant as stumbling upon a creepy spider in your home. To help keep these pests away, here are a few things you can do.

1. Saline Solution

You might only use this to keep your contact lenses moist and fresh, but it can also be a big deterrent to spiders. According to Western Exterminator, spiders hate salt, so mix a 1/8 cup of salt with a gallon of warm water, pour it into a squirt bottle, and boom, you have a nontoxic spider killing solution.

2. Essential Oils

The source says spiders typically hate peppermint, cinnamon, lavender, tea tree, and eucalyptus. Put a few drops of these oils into some water and spray your door frames and windowsills.

3. Walnuts

This one is a little strange and unexpected, but walnuts contain a chemical that is toxic to spiders. Put some near your windowsills and doors, and there's a good chance spiders will steer clear of your home.

4. Baking Soda

According to United Pest Solutions, spiders do not like baking soda. Sprinkle it in your entryway and doorways.

Hopefully, these tips help keep these creepy critters out of your homes this fall. Send us a message in the app if you have any other tips.
