Got some Kleenex? You'll need it for this.

Stephen Colbert returned to hosting 'The Colbert Report' last night (June 19) and opened the show with a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, who died last week at the age of 92.

In doing so, he slipped out of his right-wing conservative character (something he almost never does) and was just Stephen Colbert, grieving son.

Rather than begin the show in the usual Colbert way, a reserved and teary-eyed Stephen gave the audience a brief history of his mother's life, thanking her for all she did and all she was, stopping several times to compose himself.

"I know that it may sound greedy to want more days with a person who lived so long," Colbert said in his emotional monologue. "But the fact that my mother was 92 does not diminish, it only magnifies the enormity of the room whose door has now quietly shut."

If you can get through this whole thing without your eyes leaking all over the place, well ... you're steelier than we are.
