Carson Wentz will have to wait at least one more week until he makes his return to the field as he has yet to be cleared for contact. Nick Foles will be the Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback in Week 2.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson made the announcement early Wednesday morning on Wentz's injury status. The most popular idea floating around is that Wentz will return from his torn ACL/LCL in Week 3 at home against the Indianapolis Colts.

At this point, the biggest hurdle is Wentz being medically cleared for contact. It seems the team is pleased with his status physically. They've taken the safe road thus far when it comes to their franchise quarterback their hoping to have for the next decade or longer.

In the meantime, Foles is coming off a less-than-impressive start against the Atlanta Falcons, despite a season-opening victory. Foles went 19 of 34 for 117 yards and an interception. The Eagles will play in Tampa Bay against the Buccaneers, who are 1-0, coming off a 48-40 victory over the New Orleans Saints.

Sunday's game between the Eagles and Bucs will be at noon on FOX.
