6 Phone Numbers Every North Dakotan Should Have Saved For Emergencies
You know what they say, things go wrong when we least expect it. While we have the ability to look up any number we may need on Google, it's never a bad idea to have a few written down and stashed in your glove box, saved in your phone, or even memorized.
You might even want to pass along this list to your teens. Couldn't hurt, could it?
Time Is Of The Essence
Let's say your car breaks down on the side of the road on a day where it's well below freezing. Your phone battery is almost dead, or you're not getting great service to where you can surf the internet, and you need help.
Here are a few numbers you might want quick and easy access to in those situations.
1. Tow Trucks
In the event you get stranded and need to get a call out quickly, it's never a bad idea to have a couple tow truck companies written on paper and stashed in your glove box or saved in your phone.
Here are a few tow truck companies in Bismarck:
Dakota Towing: 701-203-3770
Ace 24 Hour Towing: 701-258-0451
These are just some of the many available in town.
2. A Locksmith
This one is a must. We've all done it; we've locked ourselves out of our houses. Save yourself time, and have a local locksmith saved in your phone. You never know when you may need one to come to your rescue.
3. Neighbors
Now this one might not work for everyone, especially if you live out in the middle of nowhere, but it's never a bad idea to exchange numbers with your neighbors. You never know when you might need them to check on your house for you, or help in an emergency situation.
4. 5-1-1
You might not know this, but if you dial the number 5-1-1 you will get access to a statewide road report. It is a free service, and it will give you everything from road closures, to construction zones, which can be very helpful.
5. Local Police Department
This one may be obvious, but I'm willing to bet many of us don't have this number saved and/or readily accessible. To save time, you should have this number in your phone and even written on paper in your glove box.
Bismarck Police Department: 701-223-1212
You might also consider saving ND State Highway Patrol's number for your most frequented region.
6. Emergency Vet Line
When something happens to your pet, you tend to panic. This is a good number to have posted on your fridge and saved in your phone. You never know when you may need it in a hurry.
A Short List
There are several more numbers I'm sure you would benefit from having saved or written down, but those are just a few to get you started.
