With the holiday season upon us and the cold weather closing in, many North Dakotans, instead of hitting the river or doing outdoor activities, might choose to go to a local bar.

After all, many of our friends and family members will be traveling back to the state to spend quality time with their loved ones during the holiday. It makes sense to go somewhere you can stay warm and grab a bite to eat, and laugh over a few cocktails. It's a great way to cut loose and be social.

While all of that is true, there are a few things you should avoid doing at the bar this holiday season.

1. Tab Out

This happens all too often: we get carried away drinking throughout the evening, and BOOM - your Uber is already there to pick us up. You rush out the door, but OOPS- didn't pay.

While you might laugh or brush it off, you're essentially stealing, and it sucks for bartenders who took care of you all night, because they missed out on a tip.

Next time you go out, don't forget to take care of business and tab out.

2. Leave Your Stuff

If we're being perfectly honest, this is something I've done a time or two. I can't be trusted to keep track of purses, phones, accessories, etc. Luckily North Dakotans have always lived up to their reputations as being "Nice" and have turned in any items I left behind.

Make sure you do the keys, wallet, phone check before you Uber home.

3. Be Gross

What do I mean when I say 'be gross'? I'm talking about PDA. If you're old enough to drink at a bar, you're also old enough to know that making out and getting hot and heavy at a bar is not a good look. Get a room, and swap your spit somewhere else.

4. Throw Down

Of course, you don't want to get into any fist fights at the bar, but it's not just that. I was at a bar recently and saw this couple arguing their faces off.

Person 1: "You cheated!"

Person 2: "No, you cheated!"

It got wild. Now, was I intrigued and happy to listen to all of the juicy details? Well, yes, but this is definitely something you don't want to do at a bar, or in public at all.
