You have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than you have at winning one of the two big cash payouts in Mega-Millions and Powerball.

Tuesday nights Mega-Million dollar jackpot is at a whopping estimated $654 million, or $372 million in cash before taxes. This represents the second largest Mega-Millions jackpot in history and the third largest lotto jackpot ever. Your chance of winning the big-fat cash payout is 1 in 302.6 million. Feelin' lucky?  The drawing is tonight at 10 pm.

But wait, there is more money in Powerball drawing Wednesday night. The Powerball jackpot is an estimated  $345 million, or $199 million in cash. Your chances of winning the Powerball jackpot is 1 in 292 million.

Your chance of winning both jackpots is 1 in 88 quadrillions (that's 15 zeros) according to CNBC.

When lotto fever strikes, I always enjoy talking to a friend who works at a local convenience store in Bismarck. He tells me sales are brisk and he has noticed most players use the same numbers in all of their games. He also said there have been more people coming in and buying several tickets as part of an office or workplace pool.

Who knows, it could happen to you, but you can not win if you do not buy a ticket. Mega-Millions is $2 per ticket and Powerball costs $2, or $3 with the Power Play option.
