Bismarck Bucks Drop First Ever Game in Sioux City
The Bismarck Bucks of the Champions Indoor Football league opened up their season Saturday night on the road in Sioux City, Iowa against the Bandits.
To put things lightly, it was a tough show for the Bucks, a team still looking to gel together under head coach Rich Davis.
Jawan Jamison a Running Back from Jacksonville, Florida who was drafted by the Washington Redskins in 2013 is credited with the first ever score in Bucks history. It was a 13 yard touchdown run that gave the Bucks six points, and cutting the score to 21-6 with just over 7 minutes left in the first half.
Elby Pope, the first player signed by the Bucks who played football at The University of Mary got the Bucks first ever receiving touchdown in Bucks history hauling in a 26 yard pass from Johnathan Bane just before time ran out in the first half.
The Bucks trailed the Bandits at the half 35-13.
Bismarck struck first in the second half thanks to a 1 yard run from Tyler Floyd but unfortunately the Bucks just couldn't seem to swing momentum in their favor.
Eventually, Bismarck went on to lose the game 77-37.
The Bucks will travel to Michigan next week to take on the West Michigan Ironmen on March 11 before participating in their home opener on March 17 where they will try and get revenge against the Sioux City Bandits.
This year marks the inaugural year for the Ironmen as well. The Bandits have played Champions Indoor Football since the league's inception.
All Bucks games are broadcast on BEK Broadcasting Network.
