David Crosby – Mr. Callous!

Last Tuesday was a very dark gloomy day, and I'm not talking about the weather. On October 6th, 2020 the world lost a guitar genius, a man who entertained millions, played on stage with his son Wolfie, always with a smile on his face, obviously loving every second it, Eddie Van Halen passed away at the age of 65, to cancer. His son was the first to deliver the news “He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift. My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss,”  

With that announcement came a universal punch to the stomach. The tributes have obviously not stopped pouring in, from celebrities to sports figures, politicians, anyone who appreciates music, and extraordinary talent. I watched a 13-minute video on YouTube, it was Eddie's Eruption Guitar Solo. I was blown away by just how easy he made it look, flowing along, and doing things on his guitar that very few people can. The instrument was like a piece of his body, the look on his face says it all - doing what he was born to do.

My feeling with such a loss is to share and remember the man who brought so much joy, which is why I am baffled by David Crosby. This fellow who is well known for his role with Crosby, Stills & Nash - it took just one word from him, to completely catapulted himself into the "Moron-Insensitive-washed up-Clod" club. When asked by a fan on Twitter what he thought about Eddie, "Meh" was his reply. I am fascinated by the lack of remorse and respect that this guy showed in a half-a-second reply. There is more. When asked to clarify his statement he wrote “Hendrix changed the world of guitar, Nobody else really ...look I get it… many of you loved Van Halen… and the one time I met he was nice… and he was talented… meh to me means I don’t care that much… and I don’t… doesn’t mean he wasn’t good ,he was but not for me.”

Wow.

       Loudersound.com said that the quick responses to Mr. Crosby have been swift and not pretty, LA Guns guitarist Tracii Guns responded: “Wrong answer as f**k and rude as f**k!!! There are better ways to say you don’t care for someone’s music. That was very disrespectful. And yes straight out f**k you and your smug answer.”

WHY would you take that approach to someone who just lost their life? How callous and cruel are you when your comments will be heard by family members who are in major pain right now. I think Dee Snyder summed it up perfectly when he said  “Now David Crosby knows what his eulogy will be from the 100s of millions of fans worldwide (and it's getting close) - "Today David Crosby died....Meh."
