Welcome students to the 2014-15 school year! And this year, elementary students in North Bismarck have a brand new school to attend. After much public debate on school boundaries, the New Liberty Elementary School is ready to greet students and faculty for the new school year after Labor Day.

With the opening of New Liberty, parents and students obviously have questions about the new school season. Parent should have received a power email from the faculty of Liberty, with all of the necessary information. If you did not received the email from Liberty Elementary, you can log on to the webpage for additional information.

Thanks to Rene Walker and Jason Middelstadt with Bismarck Public Schools for allowing us exclusive access to Liberty Elementary for this sneak peak at the new school.

First and foremost, this is a beautiful school with the latest technology and safety features for the protection of students and faculty. Liberty has emergency backup power in the case of a power outage, advanced heating and cooling, plus you'll notice plenty of open space and natural outside lighting.

Student safety was also a primary focus for Liberty Elementary. Once the school day starts, access from outside the school will be restricted to one entrance door into the school office. All other doors will be locked. Plus, some of the classrooms have emergency exits from inside the classrooms to outside, mostly in the 1st grade classrooms.

During our visit, the classrooms were filled with teachers getting their rooms ready to greet the children and working on class plans, and there was not a shortage of laughter and smiles. This school is going to be a hit with students and parents.

When the school bell rings for classes to start, over 500 students in 1st through 5th grade will fill the hallways of Liberty Elementary School, home of The Rockets.
