They're back!

Between the cuteness overload and the tastiness of the treats, it's hard to say no. The girls promise to have all of your favorites: Samoas, Tagalongs, Thin Mints, etc. They even added a new cookie this season, "Adventurefuls.” Though unfortunately, it is already sold out. The girls will have tables set up all across Bismarck through April 11th.

Beyond the cookies...

What is it about the Girl Scouts? I caught up with one mother-daughter duo, Pamela (Right) and Natalia (Left), to find out why they take part every year. 10-year-old, Natalia, who is now a Junior Girl Scout, says it's about learning. She says being a scout has taught her many skills, like horseback riding, painting, camping, and knot-tying. Not only that but selling the cookies has helped her learn her multiplication tables. She says math is now her favorite subject.

Being a "Scout-Mom"

The girls love it, but their moms are passionate too. Natalia's mom, Pamela, says both of her parents were immigrants; they worked a lot to provide for their family. Because of that, they didn't always have time to participate in things like the Girl Scouts. Pamela grew up hearing about the fun stuff the troops would do, so when she finally had her child, she decided to give it a-go.

Pamela said,

"It teaches responsibility and gives them experiences. I wanted those opportunities for my daughter. They're only little for so long."

If you're wondering...

The cookie business is booming. Natalia, just one girl scout in the Bismarck area, says she's already sold 750 boxes! The girls actually go through something called "Cookie University," which teaches them how to sell.

Tough Cookies

I asked Natalia what she does when someone tells her "No.” She said she keeps her head up, smiles, and says, "Thank you.”
