ND Homeowners: Doing THIS Might Save Your Life!
Being a homeowner can be a challenging and an overwhelming thing. You're mowing the lawn, power-washing your siding, planting and watering, fixing things inside and out, etc. It seems there is always something that needs to be done.
While that's true, there's one thing you might want to make a point to do.
Life And Death
This may seem silly, but I was driving around Bismarck the other day and noticed something surprising. Many homes don't have visible house numbers.
Granted, most people do have these, but some do not. I'm sure you're wondering, "How is this a life and death situation?"
Allow me to explain.
Urgent Request
All over the internet you see emergency services making urgent requests to homeowners. It usually reads like this:
MAKE SURE YOUR HOUSE NUMBER IS VISIBLE!!!!!
If you're ever in a situation where you need an ambulance or police to respond, and they can't find your house, that's a serious problem.
Take some time and put them up, if you don't have them up already. If you have your house number displayed, make sure all of the numbers are there. Make sure they are clearly visible, and haven't gotten worn down or chipped off.
Another Thing To Consider
You want to make sure your house numbers are posted and clearly visible in the daytime, but you also want to keep the evening hours in mind.
If you can, post your numbers under a light, so if emergency crews are responding to an event at your home, they can get to you quickly, even at night.
