North Dakota’s Most Popular Dog Breed Revealed

If you don't love dogs, there's something wrong with you. They always greet you with a tail wag and excitement, and does anybody else do that? Doubtful.

You see people walking their dogs all over Bismarck-Mandan, especially on these warm summer days, which won't be here too much longer.

You see dog after dog just outside having the times of their lives, but have you ever wondered which breed is the most popular in North Dakota?

If so, you're in luck; US News has the answer. They found that in the U.S., there are 68 million households with dogs, and decided to do a deep dive.

A study was done looking at U.S. households to determine which breeds are most popular in each state.

Overall in the United States, the source found that the most popular dog breed is a Labrador Retriever, followed by a Chihuahua, but that is not the case for the state of North Dakota.

Most Popular Dog Breed In North Dakota

In North Dakota, the source found that we are the only state with a tie. The most popular dog breeds are Golden Retrievers and Golden Doodles.

After that, the next most popular breed is the Labrador Retriever, then the German Shepard.

This seems about right to me. Most North Dakotans opt for bigger dogs because they can handle the snow and colder temperatures.
