Law enforcement is ready to crack down on texting drivers.

Several agencies are working together this month in hopes of enforcing the ban on texting while driving. Violators will be dealt a $100 fine. Anyone who 'texts and drives' while in a traffic lane, even they are stopped, can be ticketed for the offense.

Enforcement teams will use multiple vehicles and trained spotters to look for texting drivers. Drivers will be pulled over if they display behaviors or postures consistent with using a mobile device to read, compose, or send data.

Agencies from Bismarck, Devils Lake, Dickinson, Fargo, Grand Forks, Jamestown, Minot, Valley City, and Watford City are scheduled to participate in the extra enforcement during the month of September.
