Avoid a Ticket: Know North Dakota’s Window Tint Regulations
Do you prefer a little extra privacy? Would you like to keep the sun out of your car? Do you like to avoid making eye contact with random strangers at stoplights? If your answer to those questions is yes, then you might want to look into window tint.--That's what I'm doing.
I have been considering getting my car's windows tinted, so I did some research into the laws. I had no clue. What's allowed? What isn't? All I knew was that I didn't want to get a ticket. Now, armed with helpful information, I thought I'd share it with you.
Legal Limit For Window Tinting In North Dakota
Before we spend a bunch of money tinting out your car, you might want to brush up on window tinting laws in North Dakota.
According to The Dakotan, we actually have a new window tinting law that went into effect earlier this year (March 31st). Governor Kelly Armstrong signed legislation (HB 1340) easing regulations on window tinting in the state.
The legal limit for vehicle window tinting went from 50 percent to 35 percent visibility. We can now install darker window tint on our car's side windows. Keep in mind, the front windshield cannot be at 50 percent visibility. This legislation did not change that. the front windshield must have 70 percent visibility.
Make sure you remember this before purchasing any window tint. Have any recommendations on where to go to get it done? Send me a message in our app and let me know!
