North Dakota’s a Very Well-Behaved State
Every state has its vices and virtues, but some more than others. A recent study shows that North Dakota is one of the least sinful states throughout the country.
Some harmful consequences can have drastic effects not just on individuals but on the country's economy. Such behaviors include gambling addiction, drug use, excessive drinking, and sex addiction to name a few. Our friends at WalletHub decided to compare just how 'sinful' each state is using seven sinful behaviors, which include anger and hatred, jealousy, excesses and vices, greed, lust, and vanity and laziness.
The data collected showed that North Dakota is the 49th most sinful state in the country, which in turn means that it's the 2nd most well-behaved state in the U.S. In terms of the sins taken into consideration, our state ranked as follows:
- 48th – Anger & Hatred
- 48th – Jealousy
- 39th – Excesses & Vices
- 43rd – Lust
- 40th – Vanity
- 49th – Laziness
Basically, the higher the number, the more well-behaved we are. Vermont was the only state that was more well-behaved. In terms of the most sinful states, Florida took the top spot, followed by California, Nevada, and Texas.
The one vice that North Dakota didn't score well on was being the 2nd most excessive drinkers in the country. But our state's been well known for that statistic in the past. Only Wisconsin topped us in that category.
Perhaps it's the 'North Dakota-Nice' thing that makes us behave so well.
