We're trying to get outside and do as much as possible during these warm, summer months. After all, we only get about three months of summer here in North Dakota

Things To Do In BisMan

Some of us might like to get out on the Missouri River.

Others might wander around Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park.

Many of us like to support the Bismarck Larks and watch a game.

Maybe you want to spend your time outside seeing some animals; the Dakota Zoo is always a nice place to visit on a warm summer day.

Closed Until Further Notice

The McDowell Dam is a fun spot I've enjoyed going to on several occasions. They have paddle boats, walking trails, kayak rentals, picnic spots, and of course, an open swimming area.

I would tell you to get over there and into the water asap, but sadly, that is not possible right now.

According to a Facebook post made by Bismarck Parks and Recreation, water access to the McDowell Dam is closed until further notice. The post explains that this is a matter of safety. They have found blue-green algae in the water, and it is harmful to humans and pets.

Many people popped into the comment section expressing their sadness that the Dam is closed. All I can say is for now, we'll have to wait and see and cross our fingers that something can be done to get it back open and safe for public use before the summer is over.
