Shopping at Target is a treat for many of us North Dakotans. It's a form of self care. We get a coffee from Starbucks, we walk around, going up and down the aisles, and we look at all the cute home decor and dream of the day we can afford to buy all of it.

While that's true, many of us also go to Target for day-to-day necessities --cleaning supplies, groceries, clothing, etc. The cost of many of these items continues to rise, not just at Target, but at retailers all over. Because of that, you might be cutting coupons, or keeping an eye on markdowns/discounts.

Very soon Target is going to make a change to the store that might make it more difficult for you to save your money. According to ABC News, the Target company announced just yesterday (July 21st, 2025) that all of their stores will be doing away with their price-match guarantee.

This policy rolled out in 2013. If you could find an item for sale on Amazon or at Walmart at a cheaper price, the store would match that competitive pricing and give you a discount.

To be clear, the stores will still price match items listed at a cheaper price, one Target store versus another, or if an item is listed cheaper on the Target website, but they will not be price matching against other retailer's prices. This is similar to Walmart's price matching policy.

The source says this will go into effect very soon --next Monday (July 28th, 2025).
