Vice President, JD Vance Did Not Visit North Dakota This Week: What We Know
It's not every day we get a visit from a high-ranking political figure; despite reports of the Vice President, JD making an appearance in North Dakota this past Monday, (January 12th), it turns out, that is not true.
According to The Grand Forks Herald, the construction of a new data center near Harwood, North Dakota is underway, and is causing quite a stir. There were rumors that JD Vance was stopping to tour the site, and several North Dakotans showed up to protest.
This $3 billion artificial intelligence data center is not welcomed by everyone. According to the source, approximately 20 people showed up to the Monday protest.
Why Protest?
Some North Dakotans see this as a step forward into the future of technology and progress, but many others have concerns of the environmental impact (water usage, noise pollution, air pollution) and risks to public health.

That said, many of the protestors were there to denounce several other policies and actions taken by the Trump administration, not just the data center's construction. The source said many of the signs criticized ICE, and JD Vance's political position, in general.
So, I'm sure you're wondering who it was that did show up to the site. The source corrected its article to say that it was actually U.S. Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, as part of the "America At Work" tour.
So, no, JD Vance was not at the Applied Digital site in Harwood this week. What do you think about the data center being built in North Dakota? Send us a message with your thought.
