President-Elect Donald Trump Expected to Visit North Dakota ‘Soon’
Donald Trump is expected to make an appearance in North Dakota though it is not clear exactly when just yet.
Various news outlets, including Politico, report that Donald Trump plans a 'victory tour' to all of the states that he won in the election.
Trump won nearly 63 percent of the vote in North Dakota.
“We’re working on a victory tour now; it will happen in the next couple of weeks,” said George Gigicos, the campaign’s advance team director.
Gigicos says the tour will take Trump, "obviously to the states that we won and the swing states we flipped over."
Trump won 30 states in all. It has not yet been announced exactly when the tour will begin and when and where the stops will be exactly.
Trump visited Bismarck back in May to give a speech at the Williston Basin Petroleum Oil conference.
North Dakota holds a special place in the campaign of President-elect Trump. John Trandem and Ben Koppleman, two North Dakota delegates, became the delegates that gave Trump enough delegates to secure the Republican nomination for President.
Trump has not commented publicly on the Dakota Access Pipeline, one of the bigger issues currently facing North Dakota. A few weeks ago, North Dakota congressman Kevin Cramer who has served as an energy adviser to Trump said the President-elect may not even be aware of the issue.
However, at his speech given during the oil conference, Trump said he wanted to use money earned from oil sales to rebuild local infrastructure. With regards to climate change, which Trump has previously said was a hoax created by the Chinese, he said at the conference, “We’ll solve real environmental problems in our communities, like the need for clean and safe drinking water.”
Trump criticized Obama for rejecting the Keystone Pipeline at the oil conference as well.
