Search Underway For Missing Hiker In North Dakota Badlands Wilderness
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is assisting local law enforcement and emergency management agencies in Mckenzie County in the search for a missing hiker in the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
Authorities are searching for Artoun Gostantain, 37, whose vehicle was located in the park. The silver 2022 Toyota RAV4, bearing Idaho license plate 1AXX35U, was found in the North Unit.
Search efforts, including K9 teams, continued as officials worked to locate Gostantain.
Gostantain is described as a 5-foot-7 man with black hair and brown eyes. He wears prescription glasses and has a cross tattoo on his back, along with another tattoo on his right shoulder.
He was last known to be wearing a black shirt and black shorts.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Town Police Department or the Mountrail County Sheriff’s Office at 701-628-2975. Authorities say even small details could assist in the search.
