Some of the most controversial topics NOT to bring up at a family reunion -  religion, politics, and the death penalty. Family dinners have no doubt been destroyed by those that love to spew forward their opinions on the leadership of our country. That tradition has been going on forever. When the death penalty is brought up, tensions can soar quickly. Do we have a right to end someone's life? Does our justice system make mistakes? A volatile subject - both sides of the argument have some validity to it and unless you have sat as a juror member in a death penalty case, you can't possibly fathom the emotions that swirl in your head, nightmares that surely wake you up at 3:20 am. Imagine if you will, sending a man or woman off to die.

Violence and sheer madness struck 24 years ago when Daniel Lee killed a man, his wife, and an eight-year-old daughter. He was found guilty, given the death penalty, and for the first time in 17 years, he was going to die in a federal execution. His life was spared by the act of a federal judge in Washington D.C. - who stayed all pending executions. U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan accused the government of trying to "rush through the process" of setting short execution dates thus not allowing the inmates to enough time prepare their appeals. The government is likely to bring out another round of quick appeals to allow the executions to proceed. For now, one man lives to breathe another day, but will his time come soon?
